Yay! Summer GASP! ’09 took place yesterday!

Overall, it was a very successful event. Thanks go out to everyone who attended. We really appreciate your support, and we’re glad you were able to come.

I want to especially thank all of our staff who made the party possible. Everyone worked really hard to make it a great event.

In the next few days I’ll try to put up some pictures from the mini-con. In the meantime, if you have any thoughts on the party or ideas for a future GASP! party, please leave your comments here.

Anime

Tony Victorino has volunteered to be our anime coordinator for GASP!

He'll be in charge of making sure that a variety of anime gets played throughout the party, but everyone is welcome to bring anime to share.

When bringing anime, please make sure that it's content is mild PG-13 at worst.

Tony tells me that he'll be streaming anime from a laptop, so compatable video formats are OGM, Xvid,and AVI. You can also bring anime on DVD. If there is an anime you would like to recommend, but don't personally have access to, let Tony know and he might be able to acquire a few episodes of it.

Karaoke

Hey everybody, Gareth is organizing the Karaoke for GASP!

If you have any song requests or suggestions, post them in the comments before.

Also, if you know any good sources for Karaoke versions of songs (without lyrics), please post those as well.

Status Update with Important Info!

It is officially confirmed, GASP! will be held at the Green House on September 19th.

Everyone is welcome to arrive beginning at 3:00 pm to participate in a group study of the Watchtower for the next day. At 4:00 we will begin setting up for the actual party. The first thing to go up will be the anime, which will play continuously throughout the evening. At around 6:00, when the majority of our attendees should be present, we will begin our games and events. There will not be a sit down meal, but food and drinks will be available as the evening progresses.

Some of the games and events we have planned right now are:

• Costume Contest: Come dressed as an anime character, or in an original costume. A prize will be awarded for best costume.
• Karaoke: Sing along to songs in English and Japanese!
• Mario Party: A party within a party! Earn coins through a series of "mini-games". The person with the most coins wins a prize!

How can you help with GASP!? It would help if we had a good estimate of how many people are coming. If you're planning on attending, please let us know. Air conditioning is limited at the Green House, so consider if you can bring any fans or window units. Also, if you're able to bring food or drinks, or would like to contribute monetarily to the refreshments fund, we'd appreciate it. Bring some anime to share!
